There are two types of content: Content that educates and content that inspires.
Both serve slightly different purposes. Both provide value to your readers. This kind of value keeps readers clicking back to your website every week.
Identify a problem your audience has. What are they challenged by? What do they need? How can you help? Why are you the best person for the job?
Solve that problem by offering the knowledge they need to solve their problem themselves. Educate them on the topic in question. Lay out the basics in a clear, concise way. Be confident in your knowledge.
Sometimes people don’t want a DIY fix. Instead, they want someone else to fix their problems. They need you to make their life a little bit easier. In every piece of content you produce that offers knowledge, also explain how you can solve these problems for them. Content marketing is still marketing even though it offers value to your readers. In the end, you are selling your skills. Content marketing sets you up as an expert in your field.
To be blunt: When people follow you online, they will either want something from you, or want to be you. The are thinking about buying from you, or they want to do what you are doing. You have something they don’t have. You have something they desire. Create content that inspires these people.
How do you inspire people? Think of the end goal. What is your message? What do you want to inspire them to do? Do you want to inspire them to buy your services? To become better versions of themselves? To live a life like yours?
All your content needs to provide value in some way, shape, or form. Creating valuable content on a consistent basis feels overwhelming at first, but there are ways to make it easier. For example, it’s okay to reuse content. Rework the content to fit a blog, social post, an entire course, a podcast, or video. Repurpose the content to fit the niche of each medium. Use the content you’ve created for the digital space to host an in-person workshop. Get creative.
