I love that more people are getting over their visibility fears and just posting, even when it feels cringe. But if you’ve been posting consistently and still aren’t seeing conversions, this might be why.

Posting more content does not equal brand growth. You need strategy before consistency, because consistency without clarity just adds noise.

When you start with content instead of brand strategy, you end up creating confusion instead of connection. Most people start by choosing a few content pillars, finding a viral prompt for ChatGPT, and publishing whatever it spits out. Then they wonder why it doesn’t work.

The truth is, your audience doesn’t buy because you’re posting more—they buy because they believe they are capable and trust you can help them. That belief only builds when your brand message, offers, and systems all reinforce the same story. When those pieces work together, you’re not just showing up—you’re building authority and trust.

Before you create content or learn the ins and outs of social algorithms, you need to focus on brand clarity. You need brand clarity because it connects your message, your offers, and your systems into one coherent story. That means doing the work that doesn’t always look flashy.

Step 3: Lead Your AI—Don’t Let It Lead You

AI marketing is a powerful co-creator when used right, but it can also amplify the wrong things if you hand over too much control. I like to remind clients: You are the strategist. AI is your assistant.

If you want your AI tools to create content that sounds like you, they need the same context a human team member would. That means giving it your messaging strategy, audience details, offers, and examples of your past content. Otherwise, it’ll guess, and those guesses often sound generic.

This is what I call context engineering. It’s not about prompt hacks; it’s about teaching your AI enough to think like your brand. That’s how I use it to speed up idea generation, summarize my thoughts, or outline strategies—while keeping the story and voice human.

You need to give it enough information about the circumstances so it can understand that context and create the output you really want. Not the slop we see all over LinkedIn and blog posts lately.

How I Train My AI Tools

I give my ChatGPT projects and custom GPTs all the context it needs to work with for the category of work, and lead it from A to B to C all the way to Z. We don’t just jump in with “make me Z” in the beginning.

That means I…

1. Feed it my strategy documents and audience profiles.
   
2. Reference past content for tone calibration.
   
3. Use it as a brainstorming partner, not a writer.

Then I take the targeted outlines it helped me create and actually turn those into full content pieces in my own voice. I do use AI to help repurpose content, but only the satellite pieces to promote my longer-form channels.

For example, I follow the above process to outline every YouTube video I create, then use that transcript to write the description, pinned comments, community posts, LinkedIn drafts, and email teasers. I’ll even use the transcript and AI to draft the first version of every blog post, and iterate from there.

If you read a typical email or LinkedIn post from me, I wrote it. But AI helped me bring my random ideas into a cohesive plan, always following my process.

Your audience’s activity (or inactivity) is all just communication. It’s up to you to interpret what they’re saying.

Here’s what to watch:

• Which posts get the most saves, shares, comments, or DMs.
• Where your best leads come from.
• What emails or topics get the most conversations, not just conversions.
• What happens between first contact and sale.
• How fast the above happens.
• So much more, but this is a good place to start!

Marketing is an educated experiment. There are no absolutes—only tests, tweaks, and time. When you combine data with good instincts, you’ll make smarter, more sustainable decisions that lead to real growth.
