Why is no one talking about visibility for Mompreneurs? There’s a version of you from before kids who could show up on stories in the moment, film a reel on a whim, post consistently, and be the face of your business without it feeling like a huge lift. It was you, after all. You’re a personal brand or the front-facing CEO of your online business.

Then you had kids and not only did your entire life flip upside down, but how you run your business too. Your capacity, energy, even YOU are different now.

Even if you feel ready to start showing up in these ways again, your reality… and your kids… have a different agenda.

Your business changes in motherhood, and that’s okay

As much as so many of us dislike the title of “mompreneurs” (I’m a real CEO, dammit), it’s an accurate representation of our reality. Between nap schedules, snack demands, nursing sessions in the early days, and the running tally of what everyone’s doing when and why and how they’re feeling… It’s a lot. The creative ideas might still be flowing, but the space to act on them in real-time is lacking.

If you’ve had a baby and found yourself struggling to show up the way you used to, you’re not alone. And there’s nothing wrong with you because things are different as Mompreneurs.

So many of us talk about taking maternity leave and returning to work after kids as if it’s going to be business as usual. The same, just with littles around now too. Speaking from experience, that’s not the case. You deserve better advice to show up and continue to hit your business goals even in this season where showing up live can be challenging.

Visibility for Mompreneurs is a legitimate challenge

In recent years, I’ve naturally attracted clients who are business owners also navigating motherhood. They have limited capacity and a unique set of challenges to overcome, and the work we do requires attention to those important details.

And here’s what I know from working with so many women in a similar spot as you may feel right now: It’s not that you don’t know how to market yourself. It’s that the way you used to show up no longer fits. And that’s okay.

When your days revolve around little humans, and your energy is tied to how much sleep you got the night before, visibility as defined by how you used to do it starts to feel like this unattainable thing.

I remember the days when I could create content all day long, hop on a Zoom call uninterrupted, and record podcast interviews any time of day.

Now, you’re trying to stay relevant. You’re trying to connect with your audience. You want to show up as the face of your brand—but there are dishes, diapers, deadlines, and decision fatigue standing between you and your phone camera. Plus those tiny humans are distracting in the background (if you have help) and deserve your attention (if you don’t have help).

I try to give my kids my full attention wherever possible, which requires releasing the pressure to show up when I’m with them.

All of the above gets amplified when you’re watching creators and coaches without kids post multiple reels a day and remind you that you should be doing more.

But you’re not lazy. You’re not unmotivated. You just don’t have the same capacity they do, and comparing yourself to them is a game you won’t win.

So what’s a girlie to do? Let’s talk about that.

Your new visibility strategy can be better than the old

Everything you’re juggling now doesn’t mean you can’t be visible. It means your strategy has to evolve.

Something I personally struggled with is detaching myself now from the older version of me. In terms of both business, but my personal life too. I constantly compared myself to before, as if before kids me was somehow better. Someone I should strive to be again. Rather than looking forward at all the growth possible from here.

When I flipped that narrative to focus on how much I’ve grown as a human being since having kids, and how the current version of myself truly is the best/most resilient I’ve ever been, the mood of my days changed. The same can apply to your business.

The version of your business before kids wasn’t better. That’s what worked then. Now, you get the chance to rebuild something even better than before. You get to channel all the skills and personal growth you’ve gained into something that aligns with you right now.

How cool is that?

So your visibility strategy can evolve for the better too. You can do more with less.

You don’t need more discipline—you need a better system

It’s not about pushing harder or getting more disciplined.

It’s about setting up systems that let you show up without needing to be on all the time.

You don’t need to beat yourself up for not jumping on stories or missing a week of reels. You need a low-lift, long-term plan that works with your actual life.

That’s what I had to create for myself.

I’ll share my visibility and marketing strategy with you, but I don’t want you to copy / paste what works for me into your business. Instead, you need to look at your data. What’s already working? What still makes sense right now? How can you adjust the actions to fit your current situation, but leveraging the stuff that was already working for you.

Think same same, but different.

My low-lift visibility for Mompreneurs strategy (that still works)

I’ve been a marketing consultant for over a decade, so I knew what I was supposed to do. But theory and reality are two different things when you’re working in naptime windows.

So I asked myself the question I now ask my clients: How can I do more with less?

Here’s what that looks like in my business:

✅ Weekly emails: My one non-negotiable. I haven’t missed a week in 5 years—even if it’s a repurposed or shorter message. My email list is where I nurture, convert, and stay connected.

✅ Paid traffic to lead magnets: My list grows even when I’m offline. That visibility engine keeps running without me manually posting.

✅ SEO and blog posts: Batchable, long-form content that works 24/7. I can create a few posts and see traffic for months.

✅ Pinterest and YouTube: Smaller platforms for me—but steady drivers of traffic. Low effort, high return when used strategically.

✅ Social media—on my terms: I show up on stories when it feels good. I repurpose content when I can. I post intentionally, not impulsively.

None of this requires me to be “on” every single day. That’s kinda the whole point. Because I know I don’t get to control most things most days.

If you feel invisible or behind, you’re not

Visibility as a mompreneur, online business owner, or freelancer doesn’t mean you need to be everywhere. You do need to be strategic with the time, energy, and attention you do have—and let go of the idea that visibility has to mean daily stories, trending reels, and on-the-fly content.

If your current marketing plan only works when you’re well-rested, fully focused, and uninterrupted… It’s not a realistic plan for this season.

Where do you start? Do this…

1. Pick one long-term visibility channel (email, blog, podcast, YouTube) and commit to it weekly or even biweekly at first. Visibility for Mompreneurs requires a big-picture approach. Consistent effort over time. Not just this week.
2. Repurpose from that main piece of content—turn your blog into an email, your email into IG captions, etc. Leverage what you have to make it work harder for you.
3. Schedule things in advance when you can. I love to work 4-6 weeks in advance when it’s possible. Every time I have a slower week, I book myself as a client and batch my own content beyond my typical to-dos.
4. Release the guilt around “not doing enough”… You’re doing what works for you right now.

Visibility for Mompreneurs isn’t worse—it’s an up level you can meet

If you hadn’t noticed, so much of this work, while marketing, comes back to mindset. How you choose to take action and show up in a way that works for you. How you get the chance to redesign how your business operates so it makes sense right now… And how exciting is that opportunity?

You get to design a sustainable strategy that honors your capacity, protects your energy, and allows you to still grow—even if you’re not on camera every day.

At the very least, remember that you’re not alone and it’s worthwhile to share your experience. Because there are other moms out there right now—trying to run businesses in the windows of their day—who need to see someone doing it their own way.
